“Work hard, travel often” is a popular mindset around the Miles offices. For as much time and energy we dedicate to our work, we like to take time to plan and enjoy vacations. Whether it’s a staycation in the comfort of a hometown or an adventure across the globe, we highly value the vacation time we have to explore and have once-in-a-lifetime experiences. As travel enthusiasts, we were thrilled to get involved in Project: Time Off’s National Plan for Vacation Day.
Miles team members recently attended some of the industry’s top events and brought back highlights on the topics and trends discussed. We wanted to share a few takeaways from these conferences that will likely play a role in the travel and tourism industry as we move into 2018.
Skift Global Forum
The “TED of travel” and one of the most creative business gatherings in the global travel industry, Skift’s Global Forum focuses on the future of the travel industry and the industry leaders creating and defining the way. Miles’ Vice President of New Business Development/Creative Director Elena Prostova attended and highlighted two key themes that drove conversation at the event and throughout the industry.
The Global All-Stars Innovation Showcase at DMAI’s Annual Convention brings together leading speakers, the latest technologies and hot marketing trends from around the world. This year Global All-Stars moves to the main stage at DMAI’s 2016 Annual Convention with featured speakers Jesse Desjardins, Global Manager of Social and Content for Tourism Australia, and Jaci Hays, Head of Global Brand Partnerships for GoPro. In addition, Nick Teare, Senior Director of Brand and Field Marketing for The Ritz-Carlton will offer an exciting, fresh look at new developments in lifestyle hotels—and what they can teach destination marketers in nurturing community, connectivity and a sense of place. “If content had a smell, a lot of it sure would stink,” said Gerry McGovern, the closing keynote speaker at Confab, a conference highlighting the topics, trends and best practices shaping today’s most successful content strategies.
Gerry, the founder and CEO of Customer Carewords, was one of the amazing speakers at the content-strategy conference last week in Minneapolis. He discussed user-friendly web design, continuous improvement and other essential aspects to enhancing user satisfaction.
