Mark has spent most of his adult life living out of a suitcase. After studying for an undergraduate degree in English Literature at Cambridge University and a Masters on a scholarship from the University of Chicago, Mark worked as a tour director leading art tours in Florence, Rome and Paris. After graduating, Mark moved to New York to become a journalist, joining Conde Nast Traveler to roam around the world unearthing the most unusual and interesting travel stories. Recent favorites have included a stint in China’s capital of cool, Chengdu, where the pandas are giving way to a rap-and-tattoo subculture, joining cowboy poets in Wyoming rap by the campfire, and judging the finer points of vodka-swigging at the cocktail set’s answer to Miss World in New Zealand.
On the idea of “Trust in People”, we’ll hear from Mark on how a group of entrepreneurs, dreamers and visionaries are reshaping travel and tourism’s future based on the piece, The 44 People Changing the Way We Travel.
