WVThis past weekend, Miles joined nearly 200 West Virginia tourism partners at one of the oldest resorts in the country to discuss one of the oldest challenges facing travel marketers: How do we keep doing a better job of telling our story?

Promoting a “Sharpen Your Edge” theme, the West Virginia Hospitality and Travel Association’s Hospitality University brings together local business owners and leading national experts to discuss how to sharpen their communications with consumers at a time where competition continues to increase but marketing budgets don’t always keep pace. After an opening dine-around featuring locally produced food prepared by the state’s top chefs, sessions over the next two days offered such gems as How Real People Use the Web, The 3 R’s of Marketing, Building Your Business Through Community Partnerships and Industry Trends, Challenges & Triumphs. And it all takes places on the gorgeous grounds of The Greenbrier, a National Historic landmark nestled in the Allegheny Mountains that has hosted presidents, kings and countless celebrities since 1778. Not a bad place to “work,” eh? Miles has been a sponsor of West Virginia’s Hospitality University since its inception in 2011 and we enjoyed spending time with all our West Virginia friends again this year.
