Funding for Tomorrow
Two major studies on the future of tourism taxes and other funding sources have recently been completed and offer invaluable insights and recommendations for fresh thinking in tourism taxes and funding options for DMOs.
“Funding Futures” was a major North American study that was completed in parallel with the comprehensive European study, “Tourism Taxes by Design.” Both studies include an exhaustive analysis of current and potential new funding sources in addition to results from major surveys of more than 180 DMOs across North America and Europe.
The “Funding for Tomorrow” webinar shared insights from these two studies and held a panel discussion featuring Caroline Strand of Visit Stockholm, Michael Otremba of Hamburg Tourisme, Fred Dixon of NYC & Company and Jay Burress of Visit Anaheim, who discussed the implications, options and priorities in funding coming out of the COVID-19 crisis.
